Coincidentally, we were talking about whether or not the UK had an official directors’ guild yesterday afternoon. Then we get into the office today and what do we find? A brand new directors’ guild has only gone and been established by Michael Apted. We can clearly add ‘psychics’ to our formidable list of skills.
According to Apted, “I hadn’t realised how little protection there was in the UK [for directors]. It motivated me to look into the situation of my fellow directors, and that was shocking news - underpaid, under-organised, with barely a voice at any negotiating table. D-UK will be this voice.”
D-UK is the new guild, which will have LWLies hero Paul Greengrass as its first president (check out an interview with him in the current issue).
How will this effect the industry? What do you think?
