Team LWLies (well, me) headed out to Luxembourg this weekend to attend Colophon2009, a biennial symposium for magazine makers and lovers from all over the globe. We were delighted to be able to exhibit LWLies there, and met some amazing and inspiring people who are making equally amazing and inspiring magazines.

Interestingly, out of 111 publications exhibiting, it seems we were the only movie mag. Is LWLies alone as an independently published film title? Do movie-lovers out there not feel as compelled as we do to share their thoughts and passions with the rest of the world? Do all the people who are making fashion and lifestyle mags instead know something we don’t? Are we doomed?!

We thoroughly recommend that anyone who finds the independent view that LWLies is so privileged to be able to express interesting or inspiring should checking out more like minded magazines at Colophon’s site here or through indy mag subscription service Stack here. A big thanks to the organisers for inviting us.

  • Actually there was also Revolver, a really interesting little movie mag from Germany. But yeah, two out of 111 is still pretty low.

Anyway, great to meet you and really glad you could come along! Hope more of the team can make it next time.

    Stay in touch,

Yes – but they tend to blog. Cyberspace is the greatest threat to all print publications, independent or otherwise.
