Charlton Heston may currently be remembered for his fanatical devotion to firearms than his acting, but the visually arresting and confident actor, had a career most would be envious of.
An early supporter of the civil rights movement he marched with Martin Luther king Jr, and was best know for his manly-hero roles such as Ben-Hur and El Cid. However his best work was arguably done in smaller productions. We recommend his turn as the sensitive farm hand in Will Penny and the crusading Mexican police officer in Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil.
