LWLies issue 26 will hit shelves nationwide on October 31, with Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are on the cover. We’re giving you the opportunity to design your own cover of the mag and see it featured in the issue.

We want you to draw your very own Wild Thing, inspired by the movie. Check out the trailer here:  wherethewildthingsare.warnerbros.com.

You should also include on the cover the words ‘The Where The Wild Things Are issue’, in any way you like.

  • sounds wild, however, my shocking Napoleon Dynamite-esque drawing skills probably don't compete with the LWL design excellence.

  • I seriously cannot wait for this film. The nostalgia side will be great, and the trailer is absolutely wonderful. I actually find it quite moving. Shame we have to wait till December over here. Will draw you a cover though. (don't get your hopes up, I'm artistically retarded)

  • Cannot wait to draw mine. I'm surely going to send it, but it will happen on 16th October, just a minute before the closing time. As usual : )

  • The terrible twins are going to have a go at it this weekend – it's one of their (and their parents') favourite books, and we're all digging the trailer too

  • Anyone know the size of the cover? When I open the pdf it just shows the logo…

Written by Dee on October 7th, 2009 at 16:41

  • Hey Dee,

In Photoshop you need to select 'media box' instead of 'bounding box' from the drop down menu on the top right of the screen that comes up when you open the PDF in Photoshop.

  • im confused as to whether it is to draw our own version of one of the existing characters? or to create our completely new character that is similar in the style of where the wild things are?

anyone know..? :/ cause i've drawn my own character i hope it wasnt a waste of time

Written by wizzaw on October 8th, 2009 at 04:09

  • by 'our own version' i just mean 'in our own style'

Written by wizzaw on October 8th, 2009 at 04:10

  • Hello all!

Best to sent it to us as a jpeg or pdf, at 300dpi so that we can print it in the magazine if chosen. Prize is top secret but we PROMISE it's a good'n.

Wizzaw – any character is good. It can be a Wild Thing inspired by those in the film, or it can be the wild thing inside you.

And people are welcome to enter more than one. We've had some awesome covers already – keep 'em coming!

Written by mandincardiff on October 30th, 2009 at 09:06

  • It says send them in and see them have a chance of being featured in the new issue. That's the issue out today, so I'd wager we'll know when the magazine lands on our doorsteps (or you go out and by one)
