I wasn't sure about the watchmen film either, and I haven't spoken to anyone whos read the graphic novel who thought otherwise. But you've kinda sold it to me there. It sounds like a homage to the book, and tries to recreate the same role Watchmen has as a book in the world of cinema. hahaha, whether you agree with him or not, major kudos to the guy.
