Killer Of Sheep

Join us in a rare opportunity to see one of the most important films of the last 30 years.

still from Killer Of Sheep

Three decades ago, Charles Burnett – a 33-year-old UCLA grad student – made one of the greatest independent films of the ’70s. Problems with rights to the music meant that it failed to receive a proper cinematic release, driven from centre stage and limited to underground screenings and museum showcases.

As the years progressed, Killer Of Sheep, an episodic, poetic and meditative portrait of LA ghetto life, came to achieve the legendary status and critical reputation it deserved. Don’t miss this chance to see a rarely screened classic and celebrate this stunning debut from the most important African-American director of his generation.

Killer of Sheep is released nationwide by the BFI on 20 June.
